Born and Raised in Kamloops, 4th Generation Kamloopsian, A Business owner for over 40 years owning Rays/Browns Locksmith. Kamloops is My Home. I have Been President of the Kamloops Multicultural Society for over 10 years, Hosting the Canada Day Celebrations. I am a Member of the Ana Vets the Kamloops Legion North Shore Business Association the Kamloops Central Business Association the Brock Lions Past Member of the North Shore Rotary Club

Fiduciary Responsibility Involves Responsibility and taking care of our City and the Best interest of our Citizens. As Mayor it would be my Responsibility to take care or Our City and Lead us to Prosperity together , for all of us...I have experience in this role as President of the Kamloops Multicultural Society Hosting Canada Day events for the Past 45 years. We Host this event for the People of our City, Serving my friends family My Staff and People of Kamloops first has been part of what i do everyday in my business and personal life. It is why i have Dedicated 40 years to being here for my community every day of the week. I Have opened many doors for people and created many opportunities for others, When i see them excel my job is done. Then i am satisfied i did my job well.

Many communities are facing drug addiction challenges, homelessness and have seen increase in crime and property crimes. How would advocate for our disadvantaged community members and what solutions would you propose?

In Our Locksmith Business, we deal with these issues daily, our services we are providing are not working with this current model. We need to take to the Provincial And Federal Table the Crisis our Communities are facing , our own Mental Heath is in crisis....I would advocate to bringing back our Mental Health Institutions, Some of the People that live on the Street can not function on their own and need supported care for them to live the best life they can. Putting them in rooms and feeding them is not working they need constant care, there heath would improve and so would the health of our Communities.

Many municipalities are facing ongoing problems and are dealing with staffing issues as part of the current health care crisis. Describe from a local government perspective how would you plan to recruit workers to our community?

The Heath Crisis is Country Wide. We have to make Kamloops an Attractive city in order for Medical Staff to Move Here....from Sporting Venues to Community Centers where we can all enjoy year round activities, Kamloops is 10 years behind where we need to be....Lets get to Work!

Describe how you would prioritize fire and flood management and other infrastructure issues such as poor roads and services in our community. Are you prepared to raise taxes to pay for improved infrastructure?

Our Infrastructure has been deteriorating the past decade, we are not keeping up with the Maintenance, one example no paint for our roads and cross walks this year, Kamloops is 10 years behind where we need to be. This Comes from Upper Management. We need a New Direction a more business focused approach, we need be proactive and not reactive regarding these issues, Making sure we have more than one access to our Subdivisions in case of fire, Shoring up our River banks for what is going to happen one day. Clearing Brush form our Neighborhoods in the spring and fall to mitigate the risk of grass fires.

Millions of jobs were lost during the pandemic. Describe how you will advocate for replacing those lost jobs with good union jobs.

The Pandemic has created a gap in all hiring Union and Non Union. We need to open our doors to the City to bring in Large Companies that pay great wages and allow our workers to live a Healthy productive life. Our City now seems to be against heavy industry that create great paying union Jobs. I would Support any Business that will provide our Citizens with Great Paying Jobs.

What steps will you take to work towards action on Truth and Reconciliation?

This is a complex Issue and as Mayor i would take my Direction from Our Governments from Our Local Band to our Provincial and Federal Governments. Boren and raised in Kamloops i am more aware of the issues that our Local Kamloops Indian Band have endured , as my family has been in the Kamloops Valley for over 100 years and witnessed and experienced what our first Nations experienced. I am Happy to move our City forward to Truth and Reconciliation in a positive way for all.

How will you promote ethical purchases, including local unionized goods and services, where available?

I support both Union and Non Union Business's that supply goods and services to our City. Some union Business can not supply the needs or our City, My own Business is one example, we supply Goods And Services as the City requires when they can not source a Union Business to supply the City's Needs. We all Can, and Must work together in order to have a healthy community.

What steps would you take to ensure your local government hiring practices reflect the community’s population diversity? Are you aware of any existing Employment Equity policies in your community or other communities?

Our City needs to recruit more diversity in our City Departments, The City needs to reach out to our diverse population by engaging directly with different Groups and make it comfortable for them to come forward to apply for a Job with the City of Kamloops. As Mayor i would reach out to these diverse groups and meet with them personally, to make them feel comfortable and welcomed, the rest is up to them.

Describe how you will address housing needs and housing that people can afford in your community?

Housing is a Problem across the country. We here in Kamloops can Densify our City we can not continue to expand our borders because of the cost to service these lots. In order for housing affordability and attainability we must create more homes on smaller spaces, by rezoning our existing lots and remove some of the barriers that make house expensive to Build.

What can local governments do to attract and create green jobs and businesses in their community?

Local Governments can lead the Green Movement by implementing policies that the City abides by and lead by example. Creating Buildings that are green and self sustaining , from solar power to green roofs that gardens are grown on is a start, this will create employment from business that will start up to install and maintain these Buildings, thereby creating employment.

What steps would you take to ensure a Pay Equity policy is in place and that the policy is applied to all staff employed by the local government?

I will be an Advocate for Pay Equity for all Staff....The Staff is what keeps the City of Kamloops and Business's growing. When Staff is Happy with their pay their home lives are happier and creates a Healthy Environment for all. As Mayor i would Direct The Cao to ensure our staff are treated fairly. My Door Will always be open for discussion to any staff member that is being treated unfairly.

Do you support the Living Wage for Families Campaign? Please explain why or why not.

I have Always Supported the Living Wage Strategy. It was Part of My Last Campaigns. I Created 7 Jobs as part of My new Business venture and All are paid above the living wage Threshold. We Must Pay Employees a Living wage or Better so that they can live strong and productive lives, it makes for a Healthier Community in all Aspects.

Describe your position on Contracting Out and Public Private Partnerships and how they effect existing jobs.

Contracting out should only be used when our City Staff are not qualified or the City does not have enough or can not attract new Employees to work for the City. We have LAndscape crews , i am not sure why we are contracting out our Landscaping service to one company.

My Top 3 Critical Issues are,1- Safety and Security of our City. We deal with Crime and Homelessness daily in our Business. 2- Affordable and attainable housing makes the top 3 list, 3-More services and venues, pools and Ice Rinks/Roller rink, Getting City of Kamloops Management and City Staff back together again, the staff are being treated with a lack of respect and unfair demands are being placed on them, this has created a large divide between Management and Staff.

I have Been involved with the Kamloops Multicultural Society for 45 years hosting the Canada Day Folkfest Events in Kamloops, I am A Member of the Brock Lions Club Anavets Kamloops Legion North and South Business Improvement associations ,The Kamloops Chamber of Commerce and am Actively involved with all the groups mentioned, i was also a past member of the North Kamloops Rotary Club and the Brock Seniors Centre as a Board Member
