Answers to Questions from the Public

Do you support the Living Wage for Families Campaign? Please explain why or why not.

Asked by: Kamloops and District Labour Council asked the City Councillor, Mayor, School Trustee 73 - TEA1 Candidates
Jordan Proctor Answered

If kept in check I believe the Living Wage plan is a just and noble cause. The only caveat being is if we push the wages too high, it will only aggrivate the current situation with inflation.

Describe your position on Contracting Out and Public Private Partnerships and how they effect existing jobs.

Asked by: Kamloops and District Labour Council asked the City Councillor, Mayor, School Trustee 73 - TEA1 Candidates
Jordan Proctor Answered

This just comes down to available resources and scope of work. If the city staff does not have the depth of resources to complete a task in a timely manner, or does not have the equipment and/or skills to complete a project then it only makes sense to contract out.

What are the top three critical issues facing your community?

Asked by: Kamloops and District Labour Council asked the City Councillor, Mayor Candidates

The top issues facing Kamloops right now are public safety, homelessness, and housing affordability.

Are you or have you ever been active in any community organizations, actions, or campaigns?
Describe your volunteer work, positions, and any tangible change to the community from your involvement. Are you still involved with this work?

Over the course of 5 years I became the President of the SORCE mountain bike club in Surrey and advocated for the construction of the Invergarry bike park. As part of this project we focused a large portion of our efforts into creating a culture of community ownership and maintenance to ensure the park continued to thrive for years to come.
Since moving to Kamloops, I have been on the board of directors fo the KBRA during which time I spearheaded the revitalization of the Stake Lake Stomp trail network. I have also worked with the Kamloops Performance Cycling Center in organizing and hosting trail days, helping with events, and being a volunteer at large for whatever needs arise.
